Travel plan

Flight from Europe to Lima. Pick-up from the airport and transfer to the hotel.

Mapa Zabytki

In the cultural hub of Peru you'll discover traces of the conquistadors’ presence, especially of Francisco Pizarro, the founder of Lima. The city has a much more contemporary feel than you would expect, but it is still strewn with churches, monasteries and palaces all in a wealth of architectural styles – from the colonial to the baroque. Imbibe the spirit of the historical Centre of Lima, where Hispanic and the pre-Columbian traditions mingle with each other. After exploring the “City of Kings” there is also the Gold Museum of Peru to visit. Next morning you depart to Arequipa.

Mapa Zabytki

Today you arrive in Arequipa, a town dating back to the 16th century, nestled among the peaks of the Cordillera Volcanica. The local architecture from the colonial era contrasts with the majesty of the tremendous volcanoes. Exploring this second largest city in the country will give you an idea of how Peruvian buildings harmonise with the natural landscapes. Sit back and contemplate how wonderfully the local monasteries blend in with the surrounding mountains.

Cañón del Colca

Now it is time to invite you to the canyon of Colca. The road leads through the Salinas and Aguada Blanca National Reserve, one of southern Peru’s finest preserved natural areas. Out if the most protected species, you'll fend vicugnas, representatives of the most noble group of the Camelid family. There are also alpacas and other alpine animals, as well as scenic landscapes which could provide inspiration to the most eminent painters. The enormous river, bathing in hot springs and invigorating air of this region are all a perfect complement to the view of the volcanoes. Next day your destination is the Cruz del Condor vantage point, from where you will be able to see the deepest canyon in the world and, if you're lucky, condors, the royal birds of the Andes.

The Uru Islands

A lot of new surprises are in store for you. For example, the Uru people build their houses on totora plant raft-islands, which float on Titicaca Lake! Exploring such an unfamiliar culture will certainly be one of the highlights of your trip. This community dating back to the pre-Incan era still cultivates their own unique lifestyle.

Machu Picchu - trekking

Mapa Zabytki Trekking

While wandering around the Cusco region, be sure to get a picture with a llama, discover the archaeological station in the heart of the Sacred Valley of the Incas and feel that time stood still here centuries ago. Your trekking rout will lead through the most fascinating places in the whole of Latin America: villages perched at 3000 meters AMSL, waterfalls and mountain passes up to 1-kilometre in height. Just imagine being so close to nature amid the mysterious civilisation of the Incas and exploring Machu Picchu at sunrise!

On the last day you go by train to Cusco, where new adventures await.

Mapa Zabytki

Welcome to Cusco! This historical capital of the Inca empire bears traces of its turbulent history in its architectural monuments and colourful mixture of various cultures. Like other cities in Peru, it is surrounded by stunning landscapes and the pre-Columbian and Hispanic influences make for the unique atmosphere of the place: colonial buildings are situated right next to ancient Inca temples or traditional houses.

On the last day you fly back to Lima.

Lima and back to Europe

This place guarantees closeness to the natural environment –which is, as a matter of fact, the motto of the hotel. The greatest benefits of the El Refugio are its spacious quiet rooms, lovely landscapes and body&soul-healing baths in the hot thermal springs.

The hotel in Cusco is designed in true Peruvian manner. There are not many other places where the spirit of the country is as intense as here. Pastel-coloured spacious rooms and idyllic landscapes will ensure your stay is unforgettable.

The hotel, superbly-located in the very heart of town, is remarkable for its classic Peruvian style.

Seafood, 300 kinds of chilli, corn dishes corn and a whole range of vegetables. Like pretty much everything else in Peru, the local cuisine is a fascinating mixture of European and Indian flavours. Ceviche, a kind of salad made from seafood and lime juice, is one of the traditional specialities. For those with a sweet tooth, the honey doughnuts and the recently popular tapioki balls covered with sugar are a must! Peruvian dishes are first of all spicy. ;) Even vodka is traditionally drunk with the addition of chilli, passiflora, sugar and coriander. We assure you that exploring the local delicacies will be a real adventure.
