Malaysia
go!
From 1600 eur

Idyllic beaches, tea plantations, orangutans, impassable thickets of jungles, tropical rambutans and durians –- all these await you in Malaysia along with one of the world’s richest cuisines.

The best words to sum-up the country are those often repeated by the locals: “Malaysia, truly Asia”. Malaysia is the Asian spirit in a nutshell, with its lush jungles and white beach paradises along with the tea plantations and hundreds of exotic fruits. In this natural environment, you'll find a perfectly functioning cultural mix of Malay, Hindu and Chinese traditions, cuisines and habits. Let your journey begin!

1

Departure

Flight from Europe to Kuala Lumpur.

2-3

Cosmopolitan Kuala Lumpur

Mapa Impreza Zabytki

Arrival at Kuala Lumpur, the pride and glory of Malaysia. It is first and foremost a melting pot of Malaysian, Hindu and Chinese culture. A Madras breakfast, a Hong Kong lunch and a Malaysian dinner? In Kuala Lumpur this is the norm.

For breakfast we recommend dim sum -– steamed dumplings cooked in bamboo pots from the early morning. After such a meal, you'll have enough energy to climb the Petronas Towers,– until recently the tallest building in the world. The view from the top is unforgettable!

In the afternoon of the second day in Kuala Lumpur you transfer to Borneo.

3-5

Orangutans sanctuary on Borneo

Mapa Trekking

After arrival on Borneo, you'll be picked up by our partner, who will take you to an eco-lodge very close to the Sepilok Orangutan Rehabilitation Centre. On the first evening, it's a good idea to just sit back and relax -– order fried fern which is the local speciality and enjoy the soothing noises of the jungle. The next day you spend at the impressive Orangutan Rehabilitation Centre. Apart from the orangutans themselves, you'll see hundreds of other monkeys.

5-7

Eco-lodge in the jungle

Safari Statek Trekking

After breakfast you take a boat to an eco-resort in the very heart of the emerald jungle of Borneo. As travelling by boat is the only means of getting there, the place is far away from the industrial hubs and other drawbacks of modern civilisation. If you've always dreamed of living in harmony with a pristine natural environment, falling asleep to the sounds of the jungle and waking up to the chattering of monkeys, you'll never want to leave. During your 2-day stay, you'll have a chance to go on a boat trip and experience Buffalo Lake.

On the last day you leave the jungle, travel to Kuala Lumpur airport and then transfer to the Parenthian Islands.

8-13

Paradise Perenthian Islands

You now begin a week of sweet laziness on these tiny islands in the Gulf of Thailand. If in Kuala Lumpur you were being woken up by the hustle and bustle of Chinatown, here in the morning you'll only hear birdsong, the croaking of frogs and the lap of the waves. There are no roads or cars on the island and the whole piece of land can be crossed on foot in a few hours. Your only dilemma will be whether to dive, swim, snorkel, play volleyball, lay down on the soft sand or search for monkeys in the jungle. The choice is yours! :)

On the last day you fly back to Kuala Lumpur.

13-14

Farewell to Malaysia

Return to the hotel in Kuala Lumpur. In Chinatown you'll have the last great chance to go on a shopping spree –- we recommend the famous Malaysian batiks as a souvenir. Also, in the bazaar, you'll be able to find all kinds of articles,– from Gucci purses to barbecued pig intestines. :)

Back to Europe

Flight from Kuala Lumpur back to Europe.

The above travel plan is just an example of what you might expect when travelling with Planet Escape. We tailor each travel plan to the individual client’s needs and we carefully select the right beach, accommodation, activities and the length of stay to suit your individual requirements.

Hotels

Kuala Lumpur

Our favourite place to stay in Kuala Lumpur is a small cosy hotel in the heart of vibrant Chinatown. Here you will find everything necessary for a good rest after the long flight to Malaysia -– a homely atmosphere, quiet rooms, super comfy beds, etc. All the stores, restaurants and bars in Chinatown are just a stone's throw away, as is the metro station (only 300 metres from the hotel). This is just the perfect place to stay when you want to explore Kuala Lumpur to the fullest. :)

Orangutans Sanctuary

The eco-lodge is located in a beautiful natural area, untouched by human activity. You'll be sleeping in simple but comfortable bungalows with all the basic facilities and a jungle view. The sounds of the surrounding forest are truly extraordinary. Guests can use the free transport from the lodge to the Orangutan Rehabilitation Centre, which is about 5 kilometres away.

Lodge in the Borneo jungle

It's only possible to access the resort by boat. The area is one of the ecologically cleanest places in the world. Taking into consideration the isolation from the outside world, the standard of the lodges is really high the bungalows and bathrooms are clean and comfortable. All meals are included in the price of the accommodation.

Bungalows on the Perenthian Islands

Stylish wooden bungalows just a couple of minutes walk from the pristine beach. :) The resort is situated in an emerald tropical garden behind which a coconut palm grove begins. Stylish furniture, clean bathrooms, hot water and the local restaurant, which serves delicious dishes, guarantee an unforgettable stay on the island.

Food

We consider Malaysian cuisine to be one of the best in the world. Apart from a perfect mix of  Malaysian, Hindu and Chinese traditions, it is renowned for its emphasis on freshness and diversity of produce. A Malaysian friend of ours who visited Europe recently summed it up very well when she said she was not so poor as to have to eat frozen prawns, canned coconut milk or the same soup for the second day. That is what you would probably hear from the majority of Malaysians. It is easy to get lost among all the Malaysian specialities and flavours, so before your trip we will equip you with a guidebook to the local curries, noodles, vegetables, fruit and what-not.

Price includes:

  • Round-trip flight Europe-Malaysia.
  • All internal flights in Malaysia-Borneo.
  • Accommodation with breakfasts (2 nights in Kuala Lumpur, 2 nights next to the Orangutan Sanctuary, 2 nights in a jungle eco-lodge, 6 nights on the Perenthian Islands).
