Cuba Autentica – at Cuban families'

From 1700 eur

To the rhythm of salsa and rumba you'll discover the picturesque Caribbean beaches and decadence of Havana, the last bastion of what can be called “tropical communism”.

Feel like visiting a country resounding to rumba and salsa, where people, in spite of many difficulties, are bursting with positive energy and enthusiasm? This is one of the last chances to set off on a sentimental journey to this post-revolutionary land of cigars and to see authentic Cuba just as it is. Enjoy starting your days on the most beautiful Caribbean beaches and finishing them in a local bar with an excellent glass of Cuba Libre in your hand.

Travel plan

Flight to Havana.

Mapa Zabytki

In order to experience the Cuban lifestyle at its fullest in Havana, we recommend you avoid large communist hotels and stay in one of the houses of our Cuban friends (casas particulares).

Havana is a city of unfathomable contradictions; revolutionary iconography and crumbling colonial houses are accompanied by the seductive beauty of beaches, sun and local music bars where salsa, reggae and rumba play all night long. However, the biggest attraction might be the living theater taking place on the streets – American Chevrolets from the 50s, shops with the decor resembling that of the Soviet Union, old ladies endlessly smoking cigars – everything, obviously, with the pervasive Cuban music in the background.

Colonial Trinidad

Leżak Mapa Impreza Zabytki

If you've ever dreamed of visiting a perfectly preserved colonial town where time has not moved on for decades, Trinidad is the place for you. Everything seems to have stayed just as it was back in 1850. This means that up to this day you can admire the evidence of colonial sugar fortunes – ostentatious mansions resplendent withItalian frescoes, Spanish furniture and French chandeliers. In order to get the bigger picture as well as the idea of Cubans’ everyday life, we recommend staying in casas particulares again.

Trinidad will not only appeal to history geeks. Just a few kilometers from the city swaths of white sandy beaches can be found.

Cayo Levisa island

Leżak Nurkowanie Snorkeling Statek

Cayo Levisa is a miniature paradise close to the northern coast of Cuba. It is the place where the crystal clear water of the Caribbean meets the whiteness of sand and the island’s lush greenery. Apart from never ending deserted beaches the island ensures ideal spots for scuba diving. Your only dilemma will be whether to sip mojitos on the beach, swing in a hammock in front of your bamboo house or have a swim in the cool water. ;)

Back to Europe

Transfer to Havana and flight back to Europe.

The above travel plan is just an example of what you might expect when travelling with Planet Escape. We tailor each travel plan to the needs of each individual client and we carefully select the right beach, accommodation, activities and the length of stay to suit your individual requirements.

Casas particulares – houses of the Cubans

For us it was one of the biggest experiences in Cuba to live with the locals in their homes. You will be staying in adorable cosy rooms and at the same time have an insight into the authentic Cuban way of life, which will stays hidden from those isolated in all-inclusive resorts.

Cayo Levisa island

Our bungalows are situated just next to the most charming beach of the island. Nothing and nobody will stand in your way to the Caribbean Sea. The whole complex is situated in a coconut palm grove from which you will have spectacular view of the beach and the sea.

A communist country where food stamps are still in use might not be the ultimate heaven for the enthusiasts of haute cuisine. Let us be frank – you might not find Michellin-star restaurants around here. In exchange though, you will get to try flavourful and fresh traditional meals in our friends’ houses. A typical Cuban dish might be rice with beans, chicken or beef, fried green plantains or jams and salads. Finally, we recommend the legendary Cuban ice-cream Coppelia - $1 for almost half a kilo box.
